Description Version 1.0.0 Some books are just magical enough to whisk us right back to our childhood, and I Find My First Words, by Yayo Kawamura, is one of them! Beginning with the bright, colorful, and sweetly “busy” cover of this over-sized board book, very young children enjoy adorable illustrations of random words, like tractor, elephant, pig, cloud and cat. Once inside the book, illustrations fall into a category. For example, Page 1 begins with “Things in the kitchen.” Children see images like bread, chair, cheese, plate, banana, etc. (all things you might find in the kitchen), and they try to find the same images in the two-page spread of a kitchen. Version 1.0.0 The next few spreads include “things in the bathroom,” “things in the park,” “things on the street,” “things at the doctor’s,” and so forth. Each set of items have guide images and then a fun scenario where children seek and find matching images, thereby reinforcing image recognition, hand-eye coordination, and familiar settings. This is an almost-wordless book, which is perfect for ages pre-k through 5. Specifically, the only words are those specifying where objects can be found (like “in the park), and the rest are pages and pages of adorable illustrations that are sure to leave children smiling. Use this book in various settings, like a doctor’s office or a bedroom, or to inspire children to create their own story lines.
