Friedrich UCT08A10A 8000 BTU Thru-the-Wall Air Conditioner

I like how nice it looks and compared to other thru-the-wall units, it’s the best one. The cool mode is solid and it’s not too loud (I am used to air purifiers and this is a bit louder, but it doesn’t bother me). I like the smart home features too. The install instructions read well but the application was slightly different, specifically with the USC sleeve. For the grill I ended up placing it in the correct spot and pushing the unit back, and it’s holding so far with that pressure. The dimensions of the grill are barely smaller for the premade screw holes in the sleeve. Also, the sleeve instructions say to give it 1″ minimum sticking out from the wall but that doesn’t seem right since it’ll cause the unit to stick out too far into the room. I flushed the bottom to the wall which will cause the top to go just past the drywall for the 1/4″ slope. With this, the unit sticks out into the room about 4″ (from wall, past trim, to the front of unit). If I would’ve followed the 1″ minimum, the unit will stick out at least 5″ which would have probably looked crazy. As is it sticks out enough. For reference it’s installed in a cylinder block wall. I used about half of the weather strips it came with and I caulked the trim and unit, just need to touch up with some paint now. So far, highly recommend. [...]
