The tool fits wither the larger or smaller variety of Craftsman’s new Li-On series of batteries.Lithium Ion is obviously superior to lead acid because it store more energy and weighs less, so you can get away with a smaller battery without sacrificing so much runtime as to make the tool frustrating to use.Nope! This tool is great! The battery case is waterproofed, by the way. Great touch for a tool that is intended for cleaning which will usually if not always involve some cleaning liquid chemicals of some sort. The extendable boom handle is optional, but AWESOME. I use this rotary cleaner to scrub sidewalk chalk off concrete. I don’t just use normal sidewalk chalk; I use the chalky, dry “pastels” they sell in art stores. The color is so much more vibrant and lasts longer against UV than the stuff they sell for kids to use. It kinda wants to stain the concrete a little bit, so it takes a little scrubbing (and some extremely dilute CLR for the particularly difficult to remove colors) but using this tool it all comes off!The brush only rotates in one direction, but that’s fine because if you wanna scrub “left” you tilt the tool up, if you wanna scrub “right” you tilt it down. Similarly if you want the bristles to scrub “up” you tilt to the side.It works just like a floor-buffer machine thing. You don’t use your heft and muscles to fight the cleaning machine and push it around. You let it rest its weight on it bristles in motion which enhances the cleaning effects. You only barely have to hold the tool to balance it while it does all the hard work. The brush heads are proprietary and I don’t know of any third party manufacturer brushes, so you are sorta “locked into” the heads that Craftsman makes available, which, so far as I can see, are all Bristled Brush types, not rotating Magic Eraser heads (which I would love to see, but obviously would be a consumable that wouldn’t last forever. Still…) or microfiber cloth heads like you might want to use for scrubbing a car. But I can’t imagine those would be far off, if they pay attention to reviews and stuff. The speed and direction of the rotation are not adjustable. If you’re used to a regular cordless drill you might find that a bit frustrating. But the tool has fantastic torque which makes up for the non-adjustable speed. Da Torque! If you have a need to scrub… whatever… this is the tool for you! Use it to scrub your pool’s tiles. Use it to clean that oily spot off your driveway. Use it to clean the moss off your roof.I like to keep the brush heads labled, by the way, to identify what I have used that brush on, so I don’t mix and match any chemicals or compounds or anything that I don’t want to mix and match. Obviously I hose the brushes off between uses, but still. Cross contamination and whatnot. I use a paint marker to identify what each “brush” is for. The brushes come in 3 different “stiffnesses” but if you want more than the one “stiff bristled” brush that the tool comes with you have to purchase more separately.Overall this is a fantastic machine that does exactly what it’s for. Refreshing.
